Kodavas’ are legendary for their valour, traditions and strong family values. We not only share ‘Family Names’, but we also share burdens, sorrow and joy with equal fervor. The large joint families living in the ‘Balya Manays’ (ancestral home) provided security for weaker individuals in the family. But now this appears nostalgic and a distant memory.

Modernization, though has brought affluence; however seems to have wiped out this immensely close-knit family traditions and values. It is disheartening to see many under-privileged children, women and ageing are left with no family support in our community. In the absence of any social security measures by the Government, it is time that we care for our ‘Own People’ in distress.

The alarming fact is that this dismal situation has made many underprivileged children of our ‘Kodava’ community become victims. To make matters worse, these underprivileged families are unable to afford even the basic education for their children.

So the charity cause of Komfort Foundation’s “Prevention of School Drop-Outs (POSD) Program” & Full Time “Educational Sponsorship Program(ESP)” was conceived to help the ‘Under-privileged Economically Backward Children of Kodava Community’ and Kodagu Region to pay for their schools fees and take on other regions at phase wise… “Charity begins at home and justice begins next door” – Charles Dickenson.

‘Komfort Foundation’ is a 'Registered NGO' First of its kind devoted to Kodava Community, primarily to help educating the underprivileged ‘Kodava’ children and their future. “Education is the best provision for the journey to old age” – Aristotle.

Pay for Poor Kodava Children’s Education:-

In these difficult circumstances where food and clothing becomes the only priority, Education becomes the least need, many ‘Intelligent Children’ of our Community are denied the basic schooling, going to collage will remain a dream for these economically poor under - privileged children.

It is estimated from a Survey there are approximately 5,000 + underprivileged ‘Kodava’ children who need to be educated. These children cannot afford basic education, as their parents are unable to send them to school, due to which they discontinue their studies. Since January 2011 we have funded 72 underprivileged ‘Kodava’ children by helping them to continue their education.

Given to the circumstances, we appeal to “Privileged Kodavas” of our ‘Kodavas’community and our “Kodava Philanthropists” to come forward with your contributions to assist just one child . If each family / working members / group of kodava friends / manekara’s , people of our community can come forward to adopt a child just for educational purposes by paying for their annual school fee, you will be enabling them to pursue their education further... In retrospect, the results of philanthropy are always beyond calculation in 10 years time with a tremendous growth of our present under-privileged children... Let us all give them the option to be self –sufficient just like the privileged children.
